The farce that was the 143rd Academic Council saw JNU teachers moving 19 motions for discussion Each motion asked dissent to be recorded. While the JNU Registrar was handed the motions for Part B of the meeting, he flatly refused to accept them. The JNUTA shall be sending these motions by registered post.
JNU teachers were also not allowed to register dissent. 39 teachers submitted the following note of dissent for the Part A proceedings, but this was rejected by the Registrar, because this was a clear majority of the teachers present.
This post shares the motions moved by teachers, in which it is clearly stated that should they not be discussed, they must be treated as notes of dissent. Please note that more teachers may have signed than represented here. For all the motions please add the names of Lata Singh and Ameet Parameswaran.
The jNUTA condemns the utter travesty of procedure, civility and norms of civilised conduct that this AC meeting was. Once we have had a chance to catch our breath and recover from the ugliness on display, we shall provide an agenda wise update of this meeting.
